Whatever led us to venture into the remote far North West of Australia? It was an invitation from a Child Protection Worker in the WA community of Kalumburu.
Invitation accepted! In June 2006, thirty (30) people from the Centre embarked on an expedition as we camped our way across this vast continent and engaged with our Aboriginal friends. And, that journey has continued each year since.
We simply share life, yarn, play, plan and dream with our indigenous friends. Our team has been kicking soccer balls (and the occasional AFL ball) and conducting coaching clinics, abseiling and crate climbing through to assembling bikes, cleaning community facilities, welding and electrical repairs or administration, medical and teaching services.
Over the years we have facilitated the trip and hosted accommodation for girls Futsal teams from WA to participate in the Australian National Championships. Now our focus is on the community of Halls Creek, the local school and assisting with educational opportunities for Halls Creek and East Kimberley students in Sydney.
