Sports FAQ
How much does it cost?
Prices for each comp vary depending on length and ages playing. Current pricing can be viewed when you click into the registration link. You can use the filters at the top to find your chosen league.
Futsal players at The Centre must also be registered directly with Football NSW to be covered by insurance. This includes a yearly registration fee. Please head directly to the FNSW Website to register.
Please note – no player insurance for Netball, players take the court at their own risk.
Note: Teams will also require a uniform – (may just be matching shorts & shirts). Futsal shirts must be numbered.
Hot Weather Policy
Being indoors, competitions run regardless of weather conditions. In the hot summer months we encourage participants to drink plenty of water & remain well hydrated.
For Coaches/Managers – it may be beneficial to substitute your players more frequently than usual.
If deemed appropriate, we will extend the half time break.
As usual, parents know their children & how they best cope in unusual weather conditions. Please use your discretion & monitor your child & their friends.
When Would I Play? What Comps Do You Offer?
We offer Netball and Futsal competitions for all ages from 6 years old to adults.
Games are played once a week, midweek at The Centre. The day depends upon the age group/division being played.
Check the leagues list for more information.
When/How Do I Join?
Registrations for our competitions are taken on a team basis. So get a group of your friends, work colleagues or team mates together and make a team.
Futsal is 5-a-side (incl a goalie) but most teams register 6 or 7 players to allow for substitutes. Div 1 teams – 8 or 9 players is recommended.
Netball is 7-a-side, but most teams register 8 or 9 players to allow for substitutes.
Individuals may leave contact & experience details at The Centre. Every effort will be made to place all players in teams with vacancies. However, no guarantees are given. Indiviudals cannot be placed once the season has started, though a full team can often be added if there is space.
When you have your group together, click the Registration button for step-by-step instructions to register your Team. Then your team mates can register themselves as players into your team.
What is your refund policy?
The Centre has a detailed Refund Policy. Please read this to consider if you are eligible for a refund.
If eligible, a written email should be sent to [email protected] with a detailed explanation for the request. After the request has been received, our sports manager will review and decide whether or not to grant the refund and, if so, how much of the cost will be refunded.
Please note that Active Kids Vouchers cannot be refunded as they are processed by Service NSW and once it has been lodged it cannot be reversed.

Futsal FAQ
What is Futsal?
Futsal is a fast paced, dynamic 5-a-side version of football for both male and female players. It is the only 5-a-side version of football officially recognised by FIFA, and is one of the fastest growing sports in the world. Futsal is played on a smaller, hard-court surface and usually indoors, making it the perfect sport for all weather conditions.
Due to the smaller court size, all players are constantly involved and there is never a dull moment, as defence transforms to attack in a split second. The small court size also helps players develop close control, quick decision making and speed and agility. There are some handy modifications in Futsal, including a smaller, low-rebound ball which aides control and improves striking technique. The goals are also smaller, and players wear rubber soled shoes to aid their agility and speed.
What Are The Rules?
Futsal at The Centre is played according to the attached Competition Rules & Regulations.
Div 1 or Div 2? What is the difference?
Competitive Division 1 comps are offered for ladies, men and boys (over 12yrs). They are designed for strong, fast, competitive players looking to build or maintain their skills and strength during the Summer. These games are longer (2 x 20min halves) and played on bigger (+33%), specialist Futsal courts like Premier League games.
Division 2 & 3 comps are offered for ladies, men, boys, girls & mixed teams. They are played on standard Futsal courts, newly refurbished with the latest in international sports flooring. Whilst still competitive, they are targeted at players who are looking for a good game with more touches on the ball (given the smaller space) in a friendly, social environment.
Check the Costs/Fees for price differences.
What Do I Wear?
Players may wear regular joggers (or preferably indoor football shoes) with shin pads and matching long football-style socks. Players must wear shin pads and socks must completely cover shin pads.
Uniforms are mandatory but may simply be matching shirts and shorts. However, shirts must be numbered. We recommend our partner Elite Sports for numbering should you choose this option.
Insurance for Futsal Players - What does it Cover & How Do I Claim?
Follow the link below for info & to print Claim Forms from the Football NSW (Futsal) Insurance website.
How do I Become a Futsal Referee?
The Futsal Summer season starts in September and runs through to March each year. All prospective referees must do an official course to be accredited. Then are required to do a refresher course each year. There is an annual registration fee (paid to NSW Referees Association) for all referees.
Courses usually happen at the beginning of the season. During that time there are lots of games (especially juniors) for younger referees to learn their craft and gain confidence. However, during the outdoor football season, Futsal games dwindle significantly so there are only senior games to officiate.
Course are listed on NSW Futsal Referees website. Once you are accredited and registered as a referee you can be appointed to games locally. Payments are usually made in cash after each shift and vary depending upon age/length of each game (POA).

Netball FAQ
What are the rules?
Netball at The Centre is played according to the following Competition Rules & Regulations.
What is the finals format?
Semi Finals and Finals are played over two weeks.
Unless a first past the post competition is running – then disregard below. In this case only premiers will receive prizes/trophies.
Semi Finals – 1 v 4 & 2 v 3
Winners go straight through to the Grand Final the following week. As part of the prizes there is no charge for the Grand Final.
Depending upon the number of teams in each division, the competition may be split into an “A” and a “B” so two series of semis/finals can be run. Notice of this will be given to all teams affected in the final weeks of competition rounds. This is simply done to increase the chances of more teams to play in a Final.
8 prizes are given for each team in the Final. Additional prizes can be purchased at cost price.
Finals Series – Eligibility & Game Times
Players need to be registered on the Team Registration Form and have signed on a minimum of 5 times to be eligible to play for their team in the Finals Series. This number is displayed in () on the game sheet each week.
Game times are posted to the website following the completion of all Normal Season rounds. For Semi Finals and Grand Final game times check the website.
Do we have to supply umpires and patches?
No. The Centre supplies all umpires and the bib-style patches.
What are the rules for Mixed Netball?
Mixed Adult Netball is played at The Centre . The format is two 20 minute halves with a maximum of one male allowed per third and three maximum on the court. This fast and furious competition is a quickly growing component of our business and is attracting a wide variety of teams.
The full rules & regulations for netball play at The Centre can be seen here.
How can I umpire Netball?
Umpires are an integral part of any competition and we are fortunate to have a team of committed, dedicated individuals who allow us to run the competitions we do. We are forever grateful!!
All umpires must be over 14yrs and require a minimum 2yrs outdoor experience.
Of course we are always looking to grow our team!
Please contact the Netball Co-ordinator on 8989-0030 if you are interested in joining.
If we are short can we borrow players?
Yes. If a team has a minimum of 5 of their own registered players they can borrow up to 2 players from a lower division and/or younger age competition. Teams borrowing “illegally” or playing with less than 5 registered players will forfeit their game.
Forfeits & Byes?
Forfeits are a part of any sporting competition and are an unfortunate by-product of a busy life. In the instance of a forfeit, points are awarded to the other team and the court is left available for training or a player organised friendly. Umpires may be available for this , but will need to be confirmed with the Netball co-ordinator beforehand.
Forfeits are not refunded.
Byes are limited to as few as possible but are sometimes inevitable based on the number of teams in a competition.
Any queries about this can be directed to the manager.
Please be aware that forfeits now require a minimum of 3 hrs notice before game time. This is to prevent no shows and to be fair to the opposition team. The penalty for not adhering to this minimum requirement is 2 competition points.
What do I wear?
Uniforms must consist of tops of the same colour and style and “bottoms” of similar colour so as to provide a “uniform” appearance. Players not in uniform will incur a two-goal penalty (each). All jewellery must be removed. Nails to be cut short, however, gloves may be worn.
