Frequently asked questions
Full-season fixtures are available online through Spawtz, so you can see all of your upcoming game dates and times at any time.Game details are also emailed to players each week. Please make sure your email address is correct and confirmed in Spawtz so you receive these updates.Fixtures can occasionally change during the season, so we recommend checking your fixture regularly. If a game time needs to change within 7 days of the game, your team organiser will be contacted directly to make sure your team is aware of the change.
We put significant work into balancing game times fairly across the season while considering court availability, competition structures and players who participate in multiple teams.Fixtures may be adjusted mid season where operationally necessary, such as when a new team joins a competition. However, we cannot change fixtures simply because a team or player would prefer a different game time. Moving one game affects several teams and the overall balance of the competition. If you know in advance that your whole team will be unavailable for a particular round, please contact us at least 10 days before the game.We will see whether an alternative can be arranged, but fixture changes cannot be guaranteed.
Fill-ins can only be used when your team does not have enough registered players available to play. They cannot be used simply to add additional players or substitutes when your team already has sufficient registered players available. For example, a futsal team with five registered players available cannot add fill-ins.Every fill-in must be added to the team sheet and sign on before playing. All futsal players, including fill-ins, must be registered with The Centre through Football NSW. A fill-in registration option is available for players who are not already registered. If a player is already registered in one of our competitions (for example, they are borrowing from another team), they do not need to register again. In junior competitions, players may fill in up an age bracket, but not down.
All players must be signed on before the game for them to count towards the minimum number.Teams must have the minimum number of eligible players signed on:Futsal: 3 playersNetball: 4 playersIf the minimum number is not signed on, the game will be recorded as a technical forfeit and the team will lose two competition points. If you are short on players, your first step should be to try to find replacement players through the appropriate fill-in WhatsApp group. If you still need to forfeit, you must provide at least four hours' notice.Late notice will result in a $100 fine and the loss of two competition points. Please read our full Forfeit Procedure for instructions on what to do when your team cannot play.
Where court space is available, teams may be able to use balls to warm up before their game. Balls will not be provided once games have started or if there are no free courts. Any balls issued for warm-ups must be returned to the kiosk before games commence. Please do not use balls in walkways, in the cafe or beside active courts. Where court space isn't available, players can warm up with activities such as dynamic stretches, jogging on the spot, pogos and wide-outs.Once afternoon competitions are underway, courts are generally in use and unavailable for warm-ups or training. Teams should therefore plan to warm up without a ball where court space is unavailable.
For everyone's safety, we need to keep court sidelines as clear as possible.Coaches and managers may remain with their teams. Parents, spectators, siblings, prams, toys, bags and other belongings should stay away from the court wherever alternative space is available.Spectators are not permitted along futsal sidelines. We understand that when all netball courts are in use, alternative spectator space around courts 3-5 can be limited. If remaining courtside is unavoidable, please keep people and belongings to a minimum, stay well clear of the playing area and leave enough space for the umpire to move safely along the entire sideline. When games are played on courts 1 & 2, spectators should use the grandstand rather than standing courtside.Children must remain under adult supervision and must not enter the court while games are underway. Prams, toys, bags, food and drinks must be kept clear of the playing area and officials' running paths.
If your team doesn’t have a game scheduled, you may have a bye.In competitions with an uneven number of teams, one team will need to have a bye each round. We try to minimise the number of byes and spread them as fairly as possible across the season, but they depend on the number of teams in your competition. You can check your full-season fixture through Spawtz to see when your team has a bye.
