Dural Warriors Head to Solomon Islands for International Tour

Updated: Aug 26

The Dural Warriors are on the move! From Monday 25 to Friday 29 August, our club will be touring Honiara, Solomon Islands, to take on the national futsal team, the Kurukuru, in two international friendlies at the SIFF Academy.

These matches are more than just friendlies—they’re a chance to continue building the strong relationship between our club and Solomon Islands futsal, while also preparing the Kurukuru for their upcoming OFC Futsal Men’s Cup in Fiji.

A Club with Strong Roots

The Warriors are proud of our long history in Australian Futsal. Our story is deeply tied to The Centre Church in Dural, where leaders like Brian Codrington helped pioneer the game and establish pathways that have supported futsal development across Australia and the Pacific.

That legacy continues today. Our current squad features a mix of experience and talent, with Futsalroos captain Wade Giovenali leading the team, supported by internationals such as Ahmed Sweedan and Jake Basden. The Warriors are coached by former Futsalroos pivot Blake Rosier, ensuring the tour combines high-quality preparation with strong leadership.

Bonds That Run Deep

The Warriors’ connection with the Kurukuru goes beyond the futsal court. One of the Solomon Islands’ most iconic players, Elliot Ragomo, once wore the Dural Warriors jersey, sharing the court in Sydney with Giovenali and other Australian internationals. His story continues to inspire young players across the Pacific and reminds us how futsal can bring communities together.

More Than Matches

While the friendlies will be a highlight, the tour is about more than competition. The Warriors will also be taking part in:

  • School visits, coordinated by SALT (Sports & Leadership Training) Ministry

  • An open training session for local futsal coaches

  • A joint training session with the Kurukuru

These activities reflect our club’s strong community values and our belief that futsal is a powerful tool for connection, leadership, and growth.

Looking Ahead

This special trip has been made possible through the collaboration of the Solomon Islands Football Federation, Dural Warriors, The Centre Church, and SALT Ministry.

We’re excited to represent Australian futsal, strengthen friendships in the Pacific, and play our part in supporting the Kurukuru as they prepare for international competition.
